What is the Exam?

Exam is a system that allow students to take exam independently in the Exam room. Every campus has its own Exam room. Students are free to choose the time of their Exam within the framework of the basic exam data and the campus opening hours. The teacher adds the basic exam data to the Exam software application. The durance of an Exam is 60, 90, 120 or 180 minutes. There is not extra time for an Exam.

Exam rooms are equipped with recording video and audio surveillance. Exam room computers can access only to the Exam system.  It is not possible to use for example memory stick or cd-rom.

The biggest benefits of the Exam to students is:

  • Students can choose the most suitable exam time
  • Computers can be utilised for the exam

Signing in to Exam

1. Open https://exam.oamk.csc.fi
2. Now you should select Oulu University of Applied Sciences from the institution list.
3. In the OUAS Haka login, use your OUAS user name and related password.

Exam rooms opening hours

The exam rooms are mainly available during the opening hours of the Campuses. Holidays has been added to the Exam system, but when you are registering for an exam, pay particular attention to exceptional opening hours.

The stages of the electronic exam

The teacher adds the questions and basic exam data to the Exam software application. The student register for the exam in the Exam software application.

  1. The student receive e-mail confirmation about the the registration.
  2. The student get the Exam room key from the Campus info and leaves her/his belongings (outdoor clothing, bag, mobile phone, etc.) in the locker (Please note that there is a electronic lock in Kontinkangas campus, so student will not need to get a key from the Campus info).
  3. The student completes the exam in the Exam room.
  4. After the exam, the student empties the locker and returns the Exam room key to the Campus info.
  5. The teacher evaluates and grades the exam.
  6. The student receives an e-mail notification that the exam has been evaluated.
  7. The student sign in to Exam to see the grade and the possible feedback.

Exam guidelines

  1. Exams can only be completed by students who have registered for it in the Exam system.
  2. The Exam room door is always locked. Student must get key from the Campus info before the Exam. The student is required to return the key immediately after the exam.

Electronic lock in Kontinkangas campus

Student will not need to get a key from the Campus info.

Exam room door is automatically open 5 minutes before the hour until 15 minutes past the hour. If the student is late for more than 15 minutes he/she must get key from the Campus info.

  1. The student must leave her/his belongings (outdoor clothing, bag, mobile phone, etc.) in the locker. Remember to leave your mobile phone in the locker. If the student take the mobile phone with her, the exam can be graded as failed.
  2. The student may not take any items or papers to the Exam room. Writing instruments are allowed only when completing paper exam.
  3. Only water bottle and some small snacks are allowed.
  4. The Exam room is equipped with recording video and audio surveillance. If asked, the students have to prove their identity either during the exam or afterwards.
  5. The student may not leave her/his Exam room computer in the middle of the exam. If the student breaks the rules, the exam can be graded as failed. In this case, the exam supervisor reports the fraud and informs the teacher of the incident.
  6. The amount of time reserved for the examination is calculated from the beginning of the time reserved by the student and the system displays the amount of time still left to complete the exam.
  7.  If the examination is disturbed or prevented because of a technical problem, disturbance in the exam room, fire alarm or some other reason, the student has to inform the teacher about it as soon as possible.

Exam attempts

The student can book a time to retake the exam only after it has been graded. The teacher can decide how many attempts is allowed.

If you want you can later change or cancel the reservation you made. If the reservation not being used the same evaluation regulations will apply as for those who do not arrive to take an normal exam.

When using the Exam system, student agree to comply with the following rules:

  1. Oulu University of Applied Science Assessment Regulations
  2. Rules of IT systems use
  3. The exam is monitored via video and sound surveillance.
  4. On request, student must be ready to prove her/his identity

    Arkistoiko Exam tentit vain rajalliseksi ajaksi? Minulla on kadonnut kevään tenttejä (jo arvioituja). Jos näin on, niin arkistointiaika on ehdottomasti liian lyhyt ja eikö olisi ollut hyvä kertoa siitä meille opettajillekin, jotta olisin tajunnut ottaa kuvakaappauksella kuvan suorituksista. Vai miksi tenttejä puuttuu arkistosta? Tällä hetkellä vanhin minulle näkyvä tentti on päivätty 25.5.-16 ja sitä aiemmat tentit ovat kadonneet kuin tuhka tuuleen.
